As the EU grapples with a sluggish COVID vaccine rollout — a result of both bureaucratic missteps as well as supply issues — European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen has called for tougher export controls on vaccines being produced within the bloc, especially those going to nations with "higher vaccination rates than us." Roughly 40 percent of all doses produced in the EU to date have been exported to other countries, including to states with higher per capita vaccination rates. The row is only deepening as the UK, by far the largest recipient, forges ahead with a successful vaccination drive while the EU lags way behind. We take a look at who has received doses from the EU, and how their respective vaccine drives are going.
