Mueller: Charging Trump With a Crime Was 'Not an Option'
Special Counsel Robert Mueller said Wednesday that charging President Trump with a crime was "not an option we could consider," referencing a legal interpretation that prohibits charging a sitting president while in office. He said there was insufficient evidence to charge conspiracy. Mueller then reiterated that his investigators had uncovered "multiple, systematic efforts to interfere with our election." Mueller added that he is resigning and formally closing the office.
