A fierce leader who has politics in her blood, Pelosi was the first woman to ever serve as speaker, holding the gavel for eight years cumulatively. She was also the Democratic leader in the House for 20 years. Arguably her biggest legislative achievement was shepherding the Affordable Care Act through Congress – although she hated the final version of the bill.
