Position Overview

Are you a writer or journalist with creative flair and an interest in international politics? Do you think it's more important than ever to help the general public understand the dizzying political changes in the world today? Then you are a great candidate to be an editor and reporter at GZERO Media.

GZERO is a digital media company that aims to make global affairs engaging and relevant to a broad audience, without ideological baggage or insider jargon.

In this capacity, you'll write and edit articles about international politics for gzeromedia.com, our flagship newsletter GZERO Daily, craft compelling graphics that visualize data, and report on short-form stories in videos across our media channels.

The ideal candidate for this position has experience and credibility covering international politics, strong analytical chops, and knows how to connect with an audience of news consumers.

As a reporter and editor at GZERO, you will work with a small team of writers in a dynamic, news-driven environment. You will write and edit daily and must be comfortable with the demands of a fast-paced newsroom, including tight deadlines, and respond to breaking stories as needed. You have strong news judgment, with clear convictions about what stories to cover every day, and how to approach them with our unique perspective and voice.

Ultimately, we're looking for a colleague who shares our commitment to being first to the analysis of important stories, fearless in our approach, but with a friendly, approachable, and fun voice.

This position is based in New York.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in journalism/digital media.
  • Demonstrated interest in visual and video journalism, data visualization, and video storytelling.
  • Comfort on camera and enthusiasm for producing short-form video content for social platforms.
  • Credibility covering and analyzing international politics.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • A sense of humor and team spirit.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $60,000 to $70,000.

The base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
