Danny Meyer: Businesses Receiving Stimulus Money Should Hire Workers Back | Interview | GZERO World

Danny Meyer, CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group and founder of Shake Shack, says businesses receiving stimulus money have an obligation to "be the employer and business they once were," and make sure laid off employees can return to work. He draws an analogy between the pandemic and the hospitality industry in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, saying, "I feel like this country has had almost like the neutron version of a hurricane. We can't see it, but it's there." He then discusses the likelihood that 50-75% of restaurants in the U.S. may be permanently shuttered by this crisis.
