Associate, Digital Publishing

GZERO Media is seeking a Digital Publishing Associate to assist in the daily operation of GZERO’s digital channels. The Digital Publishing Associate will serve as a key member of a highly collaborative small team responsible for maintaining GZERO’s digital presence and promoting its content to reach and engage a global audience.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and publish content to GZERO’s website, podcast, YouTube, and social media channels
  • Copy-edit and write headlines, video descriptions, and other copy
  • Maintain website content and settings; review site regularly to ensure all content is up-to-date and site is working properly
  • Support the testing, production, and tracking of daily newsletters
  • Communicate with clients and manage publishing of our sponsor content
  • Assist in tracking, research, and reporting for internal needs and external client reports and presentations
  • Manage ongoing promotion of livestream events and weekly television program
  • Participate in the development of new website and digital products and features

Qualifications:

  • A passion for geopolitics and current events is a must
  • Bachelor's degree, including coursework relevant to this role
  • 1 – 4 years of experience in digital publishing, media, or social media management
  • Experienced with content management systems and newsletter tools
  • Digitally savvy and fluent across leading social media platforms
  • Strong writer who can create concise, well-constructed copy without typos or errors
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on deadline and be flexible to changes
  • Ability to optimize content to attract audiences according to data driven results
  • Solid communication and presentation skills
  • Innovative thinker who brings ideas to keep up with new technology opportunities
  • Experience with Photoshop or paid search and social campaigns a plus

You must be able to work in the New York Office and be authorized to work in the United States.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $33,500-63,000

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Digital Publishing Associate

Position overview:

We are seeking an editorially- and digitally savvy Digital Publishing Associate to assist the Growth team in maintaining an up-to-date, easy-to-understand website, drafting and publishing website posts, drafting and publishing social media posts, performing quality assurance, and generally maintaining a trustworthy, compelling presence in digital media.

More specifically, in this role, you will:

  • Work within multiple publishing platforms to prepare content for publishing, and perform quality checks
  • Draft headlines as well as concise social copy to promote written, video, and audio content, as well as promotional initiatives
  • Aid in data tracking and reporting or internal and external clients
  • Support a range of team initiatives as needed

In the first 12 months of the role, the Digital Publishing Associate will accomplish the following goals:

  • Ensure that videos are publishable to the website with factually appropriate headlines, descriptive copy, editorially-sensible metadata, image alt text, etc. (according to team needs)
  • Work with designated Growth team members to ensure that priority content is published to social media within a timely manner, that feeds are responsive to news trends,
  • Work with designated Growth team members to ensure that marketing and promotion needs are executed with audience reception top of mind
  • Assist with tracking success by updating data and reports
  • Contribute to accomplishing additional/new team initiatives as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, including coursework in political science, international relations
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in digital publishing and/or social media
  • Strong writer who can convey nuanced analytical arguments in provocative, concise, and well-constructed copy without typos or grammatical errors
  • Digitally savvy, social media savvy, and able to quickly understand new technology and platforms
  • Highly attuned to GZERO's coverage areas in global news and politics
  • Creative thinker who can assist in social storytelling to reach new audiences
  • Familiarity with newsletter and podcast platforms, and awareness of emerging social platforms
  • Superior computer skills

  • Highly dependable, to complete work relied upon by stakeholders with specific and regular deadlines
  • Collaboration and communication: team player with ability to become trusted partner to external teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats
  • Understanding of the sales process and sponsorship expectations
  • Understanding of content creation and the editorial process; experience with CMSs and content metadata, including taxonomy
  • Up-to-date on latest media industry trends and tools
  • Understanding of the greater US digital media landscape and GZERO's position in the US and global markets
  • Superior organizational skills, acute attention to detail and a forward planner
  • Comfortable multitasking and juggling complex logistics and timelines under pressure
  • A passion for geopolitics and current events is a must
