11: At least 11 people died and more than 47 were injured in a stampede outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru Wednesday night, as crowds gathered to celebrate Royal Challengers Bangalore’s first-ever victory in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, the world’s most lucrative cricket tournament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the incident as “absolutely heartrending.”

20: Meta has entered into a 20-year agreement to purchase nuclear power from Constellation Energy, the largest nuclear power operator in the United States, to support the platform’s rising electricity demands. The deal will also assist in the relicensing of Constellation’s nuclear plant, whose current lease expires in 2027. The announcement initially led to a slight increase in Constellation Energy’s stock price before it eventually declined again.

13: The European Union announced 13 new raw material projects outside its bloc, including in Greenland, to bolster its supply of critical metals and minerals. This initiative follows China’s April decision to impose export restrictions on rare earth magnets, prompting companies to seek alternative sources to prevent factory shutdowns.


67 and 10: In Libya, 67 corpses and 10 charred bodies were discovered in hospital refrigerators in Tripoli, an area controlled by the armed Stability Support Authority group, whose leader, Abdel Ghani al-Kikli, was killed last month, reported the United Nations. UN Human Rights Chief Volker Türk has ordered the immediate sealing of the sites and called for independent investigations by Libyan authorities.
