It was a famous moment in Hillary Clinton's time as US Secretary of State—presenting Russia's Foreign Minister with a literal "reset button" as a symbol of a new beginning in diplomatic relations. And right now the same terminology is being used by European leaders and incoming Biden administration advisors, as well. Can there be a new beginning for the US and Europe after four years of the Trump presidency has eroded trust and hastened America's exit from a leading role globally? The short answer is…maybe.
