As we slouch towards greater global competition between the US and China, one key consideration is soft power — which country is seen more favorably by people around the world? The US image has taken a hit over the past year, and China is now seen more positively than the US in a number of countries. Particularly intriguing is the favorability gap observed within the US’ neighbors in Latin America, as well as in the Middle East, the perennial theater of great power rivalries.
