Hard Numbers

69,000: Around 69,000 people took part in Yellow Vest protests across France last weekend. The demonstrations, now in their 12th week, attracted 15,000 fewer people than on the previous Saturday.

2,000: When an estimated 800 million people in India head to the polls later this year, they'll be free to choose candidates from among 7 national parties, 24 state parties, and more than 2,000 minor parties. That makes India's elections the largest and most complex in the world.

100: Authorities in Papua New Guinea have lost track of around 100 vehicles used to ferry dignitaries and provide security during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit that took place in the country's capital, Port Moresby, last November. Cars, fire engines, and ambulances are among the official vehicles that remain unaccounted for.

25: Fewer than 1 in 4 young Hong Kong residents are interested in working in mainland China, according to a recent poll. That could pose a challenge to Beijing's plan to more tightly integrate Hong Kong and Macau with the mainland metropolises of Guangzhou and Shenzhen to form a "Greater Bay Area."
