Caitlin Dean, Director and Deputy Head of Corporates, Eurasia Group
Caitlin leads a team of analysts that examine political risk from global, country, and sectoral perspectives to assess implications for multinational corporations and institutions. Previously, she was an engagement manager on Eurasia Group's consulting team, overseeing bespoke projects that helped clients incorporate international macro risk into their strategic planning through scopes including market assessment and prioritization, scenario planning, government relations, and market entry.
Before joining Eurasia Group, Caitlin was a strategy consultant with PwC; worked on US Senator Dick Durbin's foreign policy and defense policy staff; and covered political, economic, and business issues for Dow Jones Newswires' Brussels bureau.
Jeffrey Ding, Author and Professor at George Washington University
Jeffrey is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at George Washington University. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford's Center for International Security and Cooperation, sponsored by Stanford's Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence.
Jeffrey researches great power competition and cooperation in emerging technologies, the political economy of innovation, and China's scientific and technological capabilities. His book, Technology and the Rise of Great Powers (Princeton University Press, 2024), investigates how past technological revolutions influenced the rise and fall of great powers, with implications for U.S.-China competition in emerging technologies like AI.
Juan Lavista Ferres, Corporate VP and Chief Data Scientist of the AI for Good Lab, Microsoft
Leading a team of dedicated data scientists and researchers in the domains of AI, Machine Learning, and statistical modeling, Juan partners with domain experts, researchers, and organizations worldwide to create a collaborative ecosystem that drives progress toward addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
Juan started the Microsoft AI for Good Lab efforts related to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), and his work was published in top academic Journals, such as Pediatrics. This initial success set the stage for him and the team to widen their focus to a multitude of global challenges such as digital literacy, equity, climate change, disaster response, conservation, health, cybersecurity, and more.
Lucía Velasco, AI Policy Lead, United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies
Lucia Velasco is a Spanish-Argentinian economist and researcher. She currently leads AI policy and governance at United Nations, supporting the Secretary-General's High-Level Advisory Body on AI.
Affiliated to Oxford Martin School (AIGI) and Maastricht School of Economics. Lucia serves as an independent expert to the European Commission and the OECD, where she co-chairs the Future of Work stream within the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI).
Tony Maciulis (moderator), Chief Content Officer, GZERO Media
Tony Maciulis is the Executive Producer of GZERO World with Ian Bremmer, a weekly geopolitical affairs program airing nationally on public television. Previously, Tony was Head of News Video at Yahoo, leading all news, politics, and feature franchises including coverage of the 2016 presidential election. He served as Executive Producer of the documentary "Uniquely Nasty: The US Government's War on Gays," which won an Edward R. Murrow award.
Tony spent a decade in partnership with acclaimed journalist Katie Couric, working first as her producer at the CBS Evening News and later as Senior Supervising Producer and Head Writer of Katie, her syndicated daytime talk show. While at CBS News, Tony won an Alfred I. duPont award for “Children of the Recession,” a multiplatform series that examined how the 2008 financial downturn affected children.
